It's 2012.. the year for the new WALT DISNEY PRINCESS!

To give you a little idea, Walt Disney Princess is a special pageant which held every three years (December 9) run by the Walt Disney Company. The contest was founded in 2006 as "Disney Princess Awards".

The first Walt Disney Princess was held in 2006. The main six who compete for the title are: Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora, Ariel, Belle, and Jasmine. 
Disney has announced that new Princesses would be added in 2009: Pocahontas, from 1995 animated feature Pocahontas, will join the ranks of Disney Princesses and also Mulan from the 1998 film Mulan.

This December 9, 2012 ten current members of the Disney Princess line-up will compete. 

Here are the Disney Princesses in the running:

Snow White is the first Disney Princess and the protagonist of Walt Disney Picture's first animated feature film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, released in 1937. A beautiful princess born with skin as white as snow and hair as black as night, Snow White is forced to seek refuge in the home of seven dwarfs, where she hides from her jealous stepmother, the Queen, who seeks her death.

Cinderella is the second Disney Princess and the protagonist of Walt Disney Picture's 12th animated feature film Cinderella, released in 1950. Forced into servitude by her evil stepmother and cruel stepsisters, Cinderella dreams of going to the ball. When all seems lost, her fairy godmother allows her to attend, where she meets and falls in love with the Prince. 

Aurora first appeared in Sleeping Beauty (1959). At her christening, she was given gifts by two of the three fairies that showed up. Following this, the evil fairy named Maleficent showed up, angry at not being invited, and put a curse on Aurora stating that at the age of sixteen, she would prick her finger on the spindle from the spinning wheel and die.

Ariel is the  the protagonist of Walt Disney Picture's 28th animated feature film The Little Mermaid, released in 1989. Fascinated by the human world and tired of life under the sea, Ariel makes a deal with a sea witch, trading with her her voice in return for the ability to walk on land. 

Belle is the female protagonist of animated feature film Beauty and the Beast (1991). Frustrated with her provincial village life, book-loving Belle dreams of having "adventure in the great, wide somewhere". 

Jasmine is the leading lady of the Disney adaptation of Aladdin; (1992) the strikingly lovely teenage princess of Agrabah and the romantic interest of the eponymous hero of the film, Aladdin. 

Pocahontas is the seventh Disney Princess and first appeared in Pocahontas (1995). She is based on the real historical figure, and was born into a highly sophisticated Native American culture that had some knowledge of Europeans.

Fa Mulan is the eighth Disney Princess and first appeared in Mulan (1998). She did marry a captain of the military.

Tiana is the ninth Disney Princess and first appeared in The Princess and the Frog (2009). She is a hardworking waitress who dreams of opening her own restaurant in honor of her late father.

Rapunzel is the tenth Disney Princess and the protagonist of Walt Disney Picture's 50th animated feature film Tangled (2010). A beautiful princess born with long golden hair that possesses magical healing abilities.

It’s been 6 years since the magic, dreams and imagination began. Six years of “joy and inspiration to all the world” – and we couldn’t be happier to share it with all of you.
